Ibiza Voice review CAIAZZO ep...

To the uneducated, techno normally falls into the category of fast, hard and unforgiving; to those that know defining its virtues can be a difficult exercise in contextualization and justification. This release from CAIAZZO won’t necessarily convert anyone who was in doubt about the music’s appeal, but even though it lacks the element of surprise, its subtlety beckons closer inspection.
The four tunes here are effervescent tools which range from the pounding title track to ‘Refraction’, whose breakbeat electro redux approach is the most interesting part of this release. What characterizes these tracks, along with ‘Vigil’, is an omnipresent synthesis of industrial-tinged ambience. Nothing new in itself, but well - executed and something that my domestic set up doesn’t do complete justice to. ‘Vigil’ may be the least complicated piece here, but it treads a nice line in sharp - edged deterioration.
This is an accomplished piece of work which does what it says on the tin and, in amongst the peripheral vibrations, shows signs of real invention and imagination, endowing these tools with a life less ordinary.
7/10
